Valiant Hearts: The Great War Review

While World War II games have been done to death it’s weird to think that next to nothing has been made detailing the events of the previous World War. Even in the history classes that I took in both high school and in college World War I was considered nothing more a mere afterthought compared to the events of World War II. Why is that? Was it because the events of World War I were not exactly historic and eventful? Maybe it’s because the United States never played a major role until the war’s latter years. Whatever it is, the stories of the First World War should not be forgotten in the panels of history, and the developers at Ubisoft Montpellier made sure of just that.

The Evil Within Review

image

The Evil Within is more than just a typical survival horror game. Bethesda’s latest release is a psychological suspense thriller, and I’m loving every minute of it. It’s dark, gritty, spine tingling, and at every moment death awaits at me at every corner letting me know that I’ll never feel completely safe. Complaints about the game’s apparent lack of length caused a widespread panic followed by cancelled pre-orders. Now I don’t care if a game’s campaign was three hours, five hours, ten hours, or even a hundred hours. I’m the type of person who believes that a game’s length should never be considered as the determining factor whether a game is worth purchasing or not. I ended up pre-ordering a digital copy before all the controversy hit the internet. Now, after the long wait, The Order: 1886 has finally arrived, but it’s time to see if this game was worth all the hype.

Is A Game’s Length Really That Important?

Is it me or have gamers completely lost their minds? For the past week or so reports have surfaced about the gameplay length of the PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886. Some have said the game is five hours. Some have said it’s between ten and twelve hours. There’s even reports of the game clocking in at an appalling length of three hours. I think that last one is more along the line of trolling, but this is starting to get out of hand with gamers freaking out, calling it an outrage, and canceling pre-orders.
