Valiant Hearts: The Great War Review
While World War II games have been done to death it’s weird to think that next to nothing has been made detailing the events of the previous World War. Even in the history classes that I took in both high school and in college World War I was considered nothing more a mere afterthought compared to the events of World War II. Why is that? Was it because the events of World War I were not exactly historic and eventful? Maybe it’s because the United States never played a major role until the war’s latter years. Whatever it is, the stories of the First World War should not be forgotten in the panels of history, and the developers at Ubisoft Montpellier made sure of just that.
The Evil Within Review
The Evil Within is more than just a typical survival horror game. Bethesda’s latest release is a psychological suspense thriller, and I’m loving every minute of it. It’s dark, gritty, spine tingling, and at every moment death awaits at me at every corner letting me know that I’ll never feel completely safe. This is the kind of game where I needed to turn down the lights and put on a pair of surround sound headsets just to experience every chilling moment. I love it.
The Order: 1886 Review
It sure didn’t take long for the “all aboard” signal for the hate train to arrive. Before the release of The Order: 1886 there were videos popping up on YouTube showing full gameplay that had gamers appalled and in an uproar. Complaints about the game’s apparent lack of length caused a widespread panic followed by cancelled pre-orders. Now I don’t care if a game’s campaign was three hours, five hours, ten hours, or even a hundred hours. I’m the type of person who believes that a game’s length should never be considered as the determining factor whether a game is worth purchasing or not. I ended up pre-ordering a digital copy before all the controversy hit the internet. Now, after the long wait, The Order: 1886 has finally arrived, but it’s time to see if this game was worth all the hype.
Alien: Isolation Review
In space no one can hear you scream.
It’s been awhile since that phrase actually felt relevant. I have to admit that the Alien franchise (which I’ve been a huge fan of) has been down in the dumps since James Cameron’s action packed masterpiece Aliens. Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection? Those are two flops I choose to forget ever existed. Video games haven’t been that much different. Most of the games that have been released were mediocre at best. I had faith in Aliens: Colonial Marines would bring the franchise back to relevancy only to be let down tremendously once again. Now when I heard that Sega and Creative Assembly were working on a new Alien game I had my doubts and kept my expectations extremely low. Then I saw the game which featured a dramatic change from straight up action to survival horror and it completely won me over. Alien: Isolation is awesome.
