Valiant Hearts: The Great War Review
While World War II games have been done to death it’s weird to think that next to nothing has been made detailing the events of the previous World War. Even in the history classes that I took in both high school and in college World War I was considered nothing more a mere afterthought compared to the events of World War II. Why is that? Was it because the events of World War I were not exactly historic and eventful? Maybe it’s because the United States never played a major role until the war’s latter years. Whatever it is, the stories of the First World War should not be forgotten in the panels of history, and the developers at Ubisoft Montpellier made sure of just that.
The Evil Within Review
The Evil Within is more than just a typical survival horror game. Bethesda’s latest release is a psychological suspense thriller, and I’m loving every minute of it. It’s dark, gritty, spine tingling, and at every moment death awaits at me at every corner letting me know that I’ll never feel completely safe. This is the kind of game where I needed to turn down the lights and put on a pair of surround sound headsets just to experience every chilling moment. I love it.
Alien: Isolation Review
In space no one can hear you scream.
It’s been awhile since that phrase actually felt relevant. I have to admit that the Alien franchise (which I’ve been a huge fan of) has been down in the dumps since James Cameron’s action packed masterpiece Aliens. Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection? Those are two flops I choose to forget ever existed. Video games haven’t been that much different. Most of the games that have been released were mediocre at best. I had faith in Aliens: Colonial Marines would bring the franchise back to relevancy only to be let down tremendously once again. Now when I heard that Sega and Creative Assembly were working on a new Alien game I had my doubts and kept my expectations extremely low. Then I saw the game which featured a dramatic change from straight up action to survival horror and it completely won me over. Alien: Isolation is awesome.
Destiny Review
There was only game that I was extremely hyped up for in 2014. That game would be Destiny. All I would do is sing it’s praises as Bungie, the same team behind the Xbox’s biggest franchise in Halo, was set to bring it’s latest creation to the masses. I played the heck out of the Alpha as well as the Beta. I was making videos showing off my biggest moments in single as well as multiplayer. I talked about the game on Facebook and Twitter. In a way I was like a living breathing advertisement for the game. I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on the actual game.
